Educational Opportunities for Refugees and Ugandans at Carnegie Mellon University Africa

Carnegie Mellon University Africa, in partnership with UNHCR and the Hope Foundation, provides an opportunity for refugees and Ugandans, particularly those in hosting refugee districts, to advance their careers through the following programs:

  • Master of Science in Electrical and Computer Engineering (MS ECE)
  • Master of Science in Information Technology (MSIT)
  • Master of Science in Engineering Artificial Intelligence (MS EAI)

This is a fully funded scholarship available exclusively to individuals from East African countries.

We are primarily seeking individuals who hold undergraduate degrees or are about to graduate in fields of engineering, computer science, mathematics, and similar areas. Once potential applicants are identified, they will be coordinated for a virtual information session to further proceed from there

Fall 2025 Admissions: Important Dates and Fee Waivers
Applications for our Fall 2025 Intake will open on October 1, 2024, and close on January 15, 2025. Please note that we require applicants to include English language proficiency test scores, such as the Duolingo English Test, TOEFL, or IELTS, with their submissions. However, if an applicant submits their application by December 15, 2024, Carnegie Mellon University Africa will cover the cost of the Duolingo English Test for that applicant. Additionally, application fees are waived for all African applicants.
