At Hope Foundation Uganda, we are committed to empowering communities through practical, people-centered solutions. Our work spans four interconnected pillars designed to foster resilience, equity, and opportunity—especially among women, youth, and refugees.
🏥 Health & SRHR (Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights)
We champion accessible, age-appropriate sexual and reproductive health education for adolescents and youth. Born during Uganda’s second lockdown, our SRHR program began as a response to rising vulnerability among out-of-school teens. Today, we actively run sessions in primary and secondary schools, ensuring that young people—especially girls—have the knowledge, confidence, and support they need to make informed choices about their health and futures.
📘 Education
• Functional Adult Literacy: For those who never had the chance to attend school, we offer a second shot at education. With 10 learning centers across the region, our Adult Literacy Program currently supports 2,107 learners, delivering both Level 1 and Level 2 instruction to build literacy, numeracy, and life skills.
• Girl Child Education & Empowerment: We harness the power of sports—particularly girls’ football—as a community mobilizer and an entry point for SRHR education. This initiative not only nurtures talent and leadership but also provides scholarships and educational support, helping girls stay in school and thrive. In protection villages, we further step in by covering school fees and providing uniforms to the most vulnerable students.
💜 Preventing Gender-Based Violence (SGBV)
Our work around Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV) goes hand-in-hand with our SRHR efforts. We identify and refer SGBV cases to appropriate services, conduct follow-ups with survivors and partners, and run community clubs and awareness campaigns that educate adolescents on consent, safety, and their rights.
✌️ Peacebuilding & Digital Advocacy
Through innovative youth-led approaches, we promote peaceful co-existence and civic participation. One of our standout initiatives is a digital advocacy pilot aimed at combating hate speech and fostering constructive dialogue—with an emphasis on amplifying girls’ voices. By equipping young people with tools to engage respectfully, we are helping shape a generation that chooses collaboration over conflict.
